The relationship between Kirk Sand and Chet Atkins began in 1989. On a trip to Nashville he took one of his nylon electric guitars so Chet could give it a try. Chet made a trip to Gibson and had the guitar added to their line of CA of amplified nylon string guitars. They named the series the Studio Classic.
Since then many acclaimed artists had Kirk build guitar for them including Jose Feliciano, Paul Yandell, Jerry Reed, and many more. This guitar plan closely replicates the guitar build for Paul Yandell, who was a studio musician for Chet.
