The Gibson Flying V guitar was first introduced in 1957 and was a very radical, futuristic alternative to other popular guitar available at that time. The design was found to be too progressive at the time and this model was discontinued by 1959 due to lack of interest.
Today the Flying V has become very popular and is a sought-after guitar.
