Typically the SG generally has a solid mahogany body, with a black pickguard. The SG has a scale of 24 3/4" (628.65mm) and the neck joined the body at either the 19th or 22nd fret. The neck set of the SG is shallower than that of the Les Paul. Typically SG's are set up with either 2 or 3 humbucking pickups or P90's. Also the classic Tune-o-matic bridge assembly was used, along with the wrap-around bridge or a vibrato tailpiece, depending on the model.
There is a volume and tone control for each pickup and the typical 3-way switch, which is much like the Les Paul setup. The selector switch allows you to select the neck pickup, the bridge pickup or both together. Coil switching for the humbuckers is typically not a standard setup.
