      Gibson first introduced the Les Paul version of solid body guitars in 1952. The guitar was designed internally, but had substantial input and endorsement by guitarist Les Paul. Typical design features for the original and subsequent model consists of a carved Maple top, Genuine Mahogany body and set-in neck, Rosewood fretboard, stop tail bridge and (2) independent pickups with separate tone and volume controls.
