Beginner Guitar Lessons

Intoduction:

I started playing guitar when I was 15 years old. That was a long time ago, but I still thank my parents for exposing me to this incredible instrument. I worked hard at it and finished a 2 year Mel Bay guitar course in 6 months. I started giving guitar lessons immediately after this at my local music store.

Giving lessons for 12 years, mostly in the evenings and all day on Saturday paid my way through college. I continued on with my playing giving performances at local colleges and playing for weddings.

I loved giving lessons and witnessing the joy my students experienced when they mastered a selection or song. Although I've been too busy working at my carrier to give lessons any longer, I would still like to pass along some of my knowledge learning to play the guitar.

While these lessons are primarily targeted for younger children, they certainly can be used by adults first learning to play as well. The lessons are very detailed and you should master each lesson after one week of playing before moving on to the next. If you find that you master the lesson and have a complete understanding of it in less than a week, by all means, start on the next lesson.

Complete the lessons numbered 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc. prior to trying to play the named songs. These lessons will show you how to plan both in standard notation (how to read notes) and tablature (tab), which will be very useful as many songs are written either in tab or notation.

Upon completion of these lessens you will be ready to move on to more complicated songs and tablature, which is available in will-stocked music stores or on the internet.

Please note that all the options in the Lesson Notes are no longer available such as the GuitarPro files. All these lessons are free downloads. Look for more free tabs coming as I get time to load them.
