MAKE SELECTION FROM DROP DOWN MENU BELOW
Lloyd Loars tenure at Gibson lasted from 1919 to 1924. Contributions included adding violin-like F-shaped holes to mandolins, lengthening the neck and suspending the fretboard over the top of the instrument in lieu of securing it to the mandolin top. He also introduced the Virzi tone produces, which was a disc-shaped piece of spruce suspended from, but attached to the spruce top to enhance the tone of the instrument.
The A5 mandolins producing during that time reflect many of Loar's designs and are reflected in these plans.
