Gibson started producing the Explorer in 1958. The original run used korina wood and they produced less than 50 units. This is much more popular today and its futuristic appearance has now caught on with many guitar players.
This plan represents the original Explored design with the long drooping headstock, sometimes referred to as the "banana", or "hockey stick" headstock.
