The 00-28vs Grand Concert guitar achieves one of the highest levels of class when it comes to acoustic guitars. These plans portray the vintage features of this classic guitar model, which was produced by CF Martin pre-WWII. Build this guitar and you will be building a very iconic instrument that could reach collector status, if you are up for the challenge.
One strum on this guitar and you will not be able to put it down. It makes for a fine fingerpicking guitar as well as a flatpick guitar and will only sound better as it ages.
If you wish to match vintage wood specs for this model, use an premium Sitka Spruce top, and Indian Rosewood sides and back, which will match the tonal quality of the original model produced. Add to this a fine Ebony fretboard and bleached bone nut and saddle and you will have an incredible sounding instrument. You can choose whether to use the original grained ivoriod binding or go with wood bindings - your choice. Also, although a challenge, the V-joint neck and slotted headpiece brings vintage quality to this guitar.
This plan features our newest bracing pattern. The V Brace. This is a completely different patterns as compared to the standard X-Brace pattern that has been around since C.F. Martin introduced it on their Dreadnought series of guitars in the 1920's. The V-Brace balances the tone better and drives the sound toward the soundhole much more directly. Also the top will vibrate more freely due to the fact the only brace tied to the sides is the lateral brace.
Structural support is enhanced by the enlarged bridge plate being tied not only to the top, but to the twin V-Braces as well.
